Role Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive OFFICE ENGINEER to join our team and provide technical and administrative support. This role involves managing project documentation, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and codes. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, adept to communication, and capable of maintaining precise document control throughout all phases of construction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background working with the NYSDOT construction inspection, quality assessment, and knowledge of Site Manager software. Job location for these jobs are within the vicinity of Dutchess, Putnam County and Westchester.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a proactive self-starter, setting a positive example for the team.
- Support the Resident Engineer and Engineer-in-Charge in project oversight and coordination.
- Manage change orders in accordance with client guidelines.
- Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and identify potential issues.
- Prepare and submit daily work reports accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with client representatives to ensure project alignment and compliance.
- Maintain precise document control, adhering to client standards and best practices.
- Organize and track project correspondence, including emails, letters, and official documentation.
- Schedule and coordinate project meetings, including preparation of agendas, meeting minutes, and distribution.
- Analyze specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work for payment processing.
- Assist with budget tracking and ensure office equipment and resources are well-maintained.
- Work collaboratively with the project team, performing additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of contract requirements, site conditions and special provisions, including relevant standards and stipulations.
- Proficiency in document management, reporting, and scheduling tools.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and extended hours, as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management (required).
- Prior experience in construction project administration or engineering support.
- 3-5 years of experience in office engineering is preferred.
- 5 years of construction inspection experience in bridge or roadway work is preferred.
- OSHA 10 or 30 Construction Safety certification (desired).
