ALRA Engineers, PC, participated in the NYSATE 4th Annual NYC Mini-Conference – Section 10 Workshops and Presentations on March 4, 2025. The event was an enriching experience with a lineup of distinguished speakers and insightful sessions.

To kick off the event, a keynote speech was delivered by NYSDOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez, setting up the tone for the conference. Presentations included the Rehabilitation of 7 Grand Central Parkway Bridges by Tony Evangelista, P.E., from Posillico, and Regional Waste Movement Study by Gerry Bogacz, from NYMTC. Other notable presentations were The Modernization of Briarcliff-Peekskill Parkway by Katie Craig, P.E., from WSP and Vision Zero in NYC: Effective Treatments and Street Improvement Projects by Alicia Posner from NYCDOT. Additionally, Implementation of BIM/Digital Twins at MTA was presented by Iwan Kinal, P.E., and Peter Clayton from the MTA. Lastly, Mobility and Megaevents: New York Will Play Host to World Cup 2026. How are we getting ready? was discussed by Trent Lethco from KLD Engineering.

We were delighted to engage with industry leaders and contribute to the discussions on the future of transportation and infrastructure. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event a success!

We had a fantastic time attending the ACEC New York Mid-Hudson Region breakfast meeting today Thursday, February 20, 2025. It was an honor to hear from Stephanie Winkelhake, P.E., Chief Engineer of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), who shared crucial updates from NYSDOT. We also appreciated Region 8 speakers, Lance MacMillan, P.E., Regional Director, and Mark Tiano, P.E., Regional Design Engineer, for providing valuable information on the state of the region and their capital program. We are excited about the future and look forward to implementing the knowledge gained.

On January 23rd, the ALRA administrative team gathered at Farmboys Smokin’ BBQ in Danbury, CT for a fun day of team building and bonding! ALRA Engineers, P.C., is thrilled to announce the successful completion of our role as a subconsultant, providing construction inspection services for the RK-93 Design-Build project! This transformative infrastructure initiative enhances access and transportation connectivity to and from Randalls Island, New York.

Key Highlights:

  • New Infrastructure: Two new vehicular ramps and three ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps.
  • Roadway Restoration: Revitalization of existing Randalls Island roadways.
  • Comprehensive Scope: Geotechnical investigations, demolition, asbestos and lead abatement, drill piles, concrete work, structural steel, bridge/underground drainage, electrical installations, and landscaping.
  • Improved Connectivity: Enhanced access and transportation connectivity.
  • Safety and Efficiency: Ensured safer and more efficient travel for all users.

We are proud to have contributed to this $108-million project, which has significantly improved traffic flow and provided ADA-compliant access for cyclists and pedestrians. Recognized as the Large Project of the Year over $40 Million by ASHE NY Metro at their January monthly meeting, RK-93 stands out for its complexity, innovative approach, and commitment to safety and sustainability.

ALRA’s field staff attended the annual Construction Industry Council of Westchester & Hudson Valley and New York State Department of Transportation Region 8 Safety Seminar on Tuesday, January 21st in Hyde Park, NY. With topics such as OSHA regulations, traffic control, slips, trips, and falls on the agenda, our team members listened, learned, and were reminded of the importance of safety. The bottom line: SAFETY IS IMPORTANT and cannot be taken for granted on our job sites. Awareness and continuous education are key to maintaining the wellbeing of our staff, clients, and the traveling public. ALRA remains committed to SAFETY as our NUMBER ONE PRIORITY!
